Bonsall, CA (92003): History and Local Information
Bonsall, part of the settled rolling foothills in North San Diego County, is located off Highway 76. While bringing lumber through Gopher Canyon over a hundred and thirty years ago, Methodist minister John Bonsall looked around and saw the beauty and potential of the area. With water close by, he planted an orchard in 1879. First called Mount Fairview, the town later changed the name to honor its founder. Bonsall, just east of Camp Pendleton and Oceanside, is one of the unique Southern California communities. Occupying a total of just over 13.5 square miles, a little less than .2 square miles of that is water, leaving a lot of land for the residents. The climate typically offers mild winters and cool summers. Residents appreciate the 5-minute jaunt to I-15 and the 20-minute access to I-5. Palomar Airport offers commuter flights and is only 20 minutes from Bonsall. Both business owners and homeowners in Bonsall depend on many kinds of home improvement services. Landscaping service is important to such influential areas as the equestrian trails, golf courses and schools, in addition to the winterization of outdoor faucets and equipment at any home or business. The high rate of home ownership and various ages of homes keep a steady demand for painters and carpenters. There is a call for electricians to upgrade outbuildings and evaluate the status of wiring when families want to remodel or add a room. Stucco should be checked often because of the affect humidity has on it. Winds and temperature variation of over 20 degrees from cold to hot ads extra stress to the outside of homes and the roof. Checking the roof annually decreases the chance of a leak from the significant rainfall.
