Window Coverings

Depending on the room or home, blinds and shades make for a decorative look, while interior shutters make for a classier look and stay true to their name – they shut the sun out. There are a number of options for a decorative look such as, wood, metal or vertical blinds and cellular, naturally woven, roller, and soft vertical shades. Cellular blinds are deemed the most “green”; naturally woven shades are usually associated with the typical beach house but can work in any room. Soft vertical shades resemble a drapery whereas vertical blinds are ideal for patio doors. Those who enjoy sleeping in without having the sunlight be your alarm clock may want to try interior shutters. Traditional shutters are recommended for smaller windows as they have 1 ¼ inch slats with a ¾ inch frame; plantation shutters, otherwise know as California shutters, have much thicker slats. Either way, indoor shutters look fantastic on the outside and inside and many don’t even want or need curtains because of this polished look. As with exterior shutters, interior shutters can be of the same material, with wood being the most expensive.
